Before formal mass production, making physical samples is an essential step. It can ensure that the size of the packaging box is perfectly adapted to the product, the texture of the material is qualified, and at the same time, ensure the structural stability of the product during transportation.

The paper packaging industry is mainly divided into two types of samples:

Digital white sample (structural sample): A blank paper box without printing is cut out by a computer numerical control cutting machine, only used for checking the size and overall structure.

Pre production bulk sample (printing sample): a physical sample that is completely identical to the final product, including exclusive design patterns, four-color printing/spot color printing, as well as surface processes such as hot stamping and embossing.

Is the cost included in the unit price?

In the initial quotation, the sampling fee is charged separately. This expense is mainly used to pay for the engineer's computer drawing hours, specialized equipment debugging costs, and material losses.

Offset printing plate: Made of aluminum alloy, four-color printing (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) and each spot color require a separate printing plate.

Craft knife molds: Special surface processes such as hot stamping, three-dimensional concave convex embossing, etc., and customized metal knife molds are also required.

Is the cost included in the unit price?

According to the common pricing rules in the industry, the printing plate fee and hot stamping knife mold fee for the first order are one-time and separately charged start-up fees, and are not included in the unit price of a single item. When producing on a large scale, the factory will use a cutting die (a thick wooden board embedded with a laser cutting steel knife) to cut the paper box blank.

In addition, if high-end packaging needs to be matched with a customized inner support, such as the plastic lining (ethylene/polyester material) and pulp lining used to fix essential oil and perfume, it also needs to use CNC equipment to process the exclusive mold.
